When Payless was preparing to launch, they invited the team 
I was part of to pitch and help craft a go-to-market strategy 
for a brand aimed primarily at the youth.

From the outset, we were clear that the brand needed to 
communicate that it was created by and for the youth, 
rather than positioning it as a cheaper alternative—an 
approach that would quickly lose relevance once more 
affordable competitors entered the market.

Our strategy focused on showcasing how the brand resonated 
with the youth—aligning with their bold approach to life, their 
visions, communities, and aspirations. We achieved this by 
using bold writing and visuals that stood apart from 
typical financial brands.

*Unfortunately, this campaign never saw the light of day, 
but I’m proud of this work as I saw huge potential in the 
brand  and this approach.*
